The LinkSprinter can draw power from batteries or Power over Ethernet (PoE).

Batteries
The LinkSprinter is powered by two AA batteries and can perform about 500 Auto-Tests, depending on link speed (10/100/1000) and use of the Wi-Fi hotspot. The unit powers down after three minutes unless Auto-off is disabled.

Battery Status
When powering up or down and holding the power button, the LED sequence and the color indicates the battery condition. Yellow indicates the batteries are getting low and should be replaced soon. Red indicates the batteries should be replaced immediately to ensure proper operation.

Power over Ethernet
When connected to PoE, the batteries are not used, as the unit operates as an IEEE 802.3af Powered Device (PD). The LinkSprinter operates as a Class 0 PD and draws about .4 watts. The LinkSprinter powers up automatically when connected to PoE and remains on until you remove the cable.
